I'm Rohan Patel, a director, videographer, editor and photographer based in Auckland. I run Becomreal Media, which is really just everything I do under one name.
I like taking a project the whole way through. I'll come up with the idea, direct the shoot, run the camera myself, then handle the edit and the colour. Keeping it with one person means the look stays consistent and nothing gets watered down passing it around.
Most of my work sits around music, fashion and sport. I want it to feel cinematic but still hit fast, the kind of thing that makes you stop scrolling and actually watch.
I care more about how something feels than ticking boxes. Nobody buys into a product because of a spec sheet. It's the feeling around it and the world it lives in, and that's what I focus on when I shoot.
I'd rather work with a brand than just for one. I'll think about the whole thing: a main film, cutdowns for each platform, and the stills for the feed.
No messy handoffs and no excuses. You get the finished work on time, and it actually looks like what we set out to make.
